Upgrade, Downgrade, What’s the Difference?

Saturday, June 24th, 2006

I’ve “upgraded” my verion of blogging software on the site. The latest version of wordpress offers a wonderful editor that does italics, bold, lists, blockquotes, vastly simplified picture loading, and even undo’s.

The only thing it doesn’t do well is sub-header tags inside the articles and horizontal rules (do ya hear me developers???). Otherwise it is vastly simpler that the “markdown” code I had come to love and use for its simplicity because you can see the final result as you’re working on it, as it works much like any word processing program any computer user is used to.

The problem is that, since I’m no longer using the Markdown plugin, I have to go back and do some reformatting on old posts.

Sigh. Win some, lose some.

Update: Well, I’ve managed to go back through the most recent third. Fortunately, while it may not look pretty, Markdown at least fails gracefully.
